DAS BOOT GERMAN BEER FULL
Remember, if it is your turn to drink, always point the tip of the boot UP until you have reached the bottom, then rotate… otherwise you could end up with a face full of beer. Is it a glass? Is it a mug? Is it a boot? Who cares! As long as there is beer in it! In recent years, the Beer Boot has become a drinking challenge or game. The German Glass Beer Boot Mug Drinking Challenge No German soldier would be stupid enough to get his boot soaking wet before a cold battle. Why didn’t they just pass around the bottle of beer? 2. This story makes no sense to me because 1.

Soldiers have been celebrating victory with a beer boot ever since.Īnother story tells that in WWI, before battle, German Soldiers would share a last beer that they passed around in a boot, because they didn’t have a glass. But after they did, good sense prevailed, and the general saved his boot leather (and avoided the unpleasant flavor of feet in his beer) by asking a local glass maker to create a boot shaped beer glass. Over a century ago, according to legend, a Prussian general promised his troops that he would drink beer from his boot if they won a battle. Best of all, I found out where to get your OWN Beer Boot for your home bar! Or maybe get one for that special friend with the hollow leg… (like my buddy, Cuddles…) (I must go digging in the attic for the photo album of that trip!)
DAS BOOT GERMAN BEER HOW TO
Also important… how to drink from it without getting all wet. And I learned the rules for the game to play with your German Beer Boot! (warning, there might be some drinking involved). It turns out that there is a story behind it (of course there is). I’m happy to report that my Texan friend won hands down (several times…) His prize? a Beer Boot to take home!īut I did wonder… Why? How? WHAT possessed anyone to drink from a boot? (and what came first as a drinking vessel, the glass boot or the actual boot that someone’s foot was in? ick!!) Personal insults will not be tolerated, be more creative.I remember the first time I saw the German Beer Boot… I was 18 years old in Heidelberg, and a group of friends and I were in a Gasthaus where a Beer Boot competition was happening. You may not try to shake the ground or table as a distraction. You may not blow or try to generate wind in any way towards the table or players as a distraction. All players must also always remain on their side of the field during a game. Respectful distractions are allowed, but not within 6 feet of the player drinking. Most reasonable people can watch someone drink it and look into the glass after and determine if they finished it or not without training. Judging games like this can be tough, but our referees are trained to know when someone has finished a beer. What happens if there is foam or backwash left in Das Boot after I did my best to get it all? In the Grand Finals of the Beerlympics, the last mug will be replaced with Das Boot with two 12 oz beers inside. Not a single drop can be spilled or left in the glass during Das Boot. Sitting down Das Boot is the signal to stop the clock, so don’t sit it down at all until you are sure you are done. Players are allowed to take breaks while drinking during Das Boot, but the clock keeps running. The player who can drink Das Boot the fastest without spilling a drop is the winner. The clock does not stop until the player sets Das Boot back on the table, signaling they are done. When finished with the beer, the player must put the glass back onto the table. While drinking, if any beer spills down the player’s cheeks, lips, or chin they get disqualified.

The timer will give a countdown (3, 2, 1, GO!) and the player may begin to drink when the clock starts. When the player is ready, they may pick up the glass and hold it and notify the timer they are ready to begin. Pour all 3 beers into Das Boot and let it rest on the table until the beer is ready.
